Tame Your Mind (20 - 30s)

Overthinkers & Self-Critical Thinkers Group

Connect with others to help calm your mind and silence the inner critic.

If you have a harsh and relentless inner critic, you may also be experiencing anxiety, low self-worth, perfectionism, strained relationships, and more.

This inner critic feeds into anxiety by building up expectations for yourself that are impossible to live up to.

It says that taking care of yourself or prioritizing your own needs will make you selfish and that the only way people will like you is if you make every sacrifice to (at least try to) make them happy.

It tells you that just as you are, you are not enough. No matter how hard you work to get “unstuck,” the inner critic can make you believe that you don’t deserve to move forward or that your not even capable of it.

The anxious and critical thoughts have become second nature, and you’re ready to find a way out of this negative and exhausting cycle.

Anxiety, self-worth, and related concerns can feel isolating. It can feel like you’re the only one experiencing these things. But you are absolutely not alone!

If you’re feeling mentally, emotionally, and even physically exhausted from “overthinking,” feeling down on yourself, and continuously putting your needs on the back burner (even when you try not to), then this group may be for you.

Register for the group using the ‘Registration Form’ near the bottom of this page.

New Helpers Haven (Fall 2024)

New Helpers Haven (Fall 2024)

Groups for those new to the mental health profession

Connect with others who can share in the struggles and triumphs.

The mental health field is rewarding and meaningful work. The connections you make with clients. Being able to help clients through some of the toughest moments of their lives. Witnessing their progress and growth. There’s nothing quite like it.

And it can also be some of the most challenging work you’ll do both personally and professionally.

It can be draining. It requires strong boundaries, proper self-care, and a healthy support system.

When you don’t have a healthy support system of others who understand the field and the struggles and triumphs that come with it, it can be very isolating.

Because of all of this, as a mental health professional myself, I continue to see my own therapist and I have participated in various support groups.

And I believe it’s important that everyone in the field do their own internal work and seek help in whatever way works for them - whether that’s individual therapy, support groups, something else, or all of the above.

New Helpers Haven aims to do just that!

New Helpers Haven is for those who are new to the field with groups for interns, training licensees, and newly licensed professionals to:

  • Support and connect with each other

  • Explore topics and unique challenges that commonly come up for new helpers (hello, impostor syndrome!)

  • Share about and build healthy self-care and work-life balance habits

  • Talk about the things you don’t or didn’t talk about in grad school

These groups are a great option to get support from peers who are not connected to your internship, training sites, or grad school classes.

Join me, my intern Lindsay, and a small group of your peers to gain support and connection on your journey to joining our amazing, challenging, rewarding field of work.

If you’re ready to register, scroll down and fill out the white form to get started!

Being a teen girl is hard! Busy schedules and so many responsibilities - school, work, family, friends, sports and clubs.. ahhh!

There are pressures to be a good student, a good daughter, a good friend, a good employee, and just a good person in general. That is A LOT to figure out!

It tells you that just as you are, you are not enough. No matter how hard you work to get “unstuck,” the inner critic can make you believe that you don’t deserve to move forward or that your not even capable of it.

Tame Your Mind (18 - 30)

Tame Your Mind (13 - 17)

Overthinkers & Self-Critical Thinkers Group

Connect with others to help calm your mind and silence the inner critic.

Being a teen girl is hard! Busy schedules and so many responsibilities - school, work, family, friends, sports and clubs.. ahhh!

There are pressures to be a good student, a good daughter, a good friend, a good employee, and just a good person in general. That is A LOT to figure out!

All of this pressure you might feel from others, and even from yourself, can lead to things like anxiety, stress, depression, low self-worth, perfectionism, and more.

If you are experiencing anxiety, low self-worth, you likely also have a harsh inner critic.

This inner critic feeds into anxiety, stress, etc. by building up expectations for yourself that are impossible to live up to.

It says that the only way you’ll fit in is if you pretend to be someone you’re not and hide who you truly are.

Or it might tell you people will only like you is if you make every sacrifice to (at least try to) make them happy.

If you’re feeling mentally, emotionally, and even physically exhausted from “overthinking,” lacking confidence in yourself that is affecting things like your school performance and friendships, and feeling stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts, then this group may be for you.

Body Image & Self-Esteem Group (12-17)

Working towards developing healthy body image and self-esteem while giving and receiving support to others like you

A guided support group to help teen girls with healthy development.

You feel self-conscious at school, at the mall, at home.. anywhere!

It seems like everywhere you go you can’t escape the feeling of not looking good enough or comparing yourself to others around you.

You buy new clothes, feel like you have to wear makeup at all times, or even restrict your eating habits all in hopes of feeling more confident.

You are not alone in this!

With so much focus on appearance in our culture, it makes sense that many of us struggle with feeling good about ourselves and our bodies.

Developing a healthy body image and self esteem is so important for everyone and this group will help teen girls work towards achieving that.

We will read The Body Image Book for Girls (you can purchase by clicking the image below) and use ‘Confident Me’ curriculum to learn healthier ways to improve body image and self-esteem and support each other for 9 weeks this summer.

I use a combination of CBT, person centered, and strengths based modalities in my individual and group work. We will use the materials mentioned to help guide our learning and conversations.

Teen Summer Groups - 3 Sessions (13-17)

Teen Summer Groups - 3 Sessions (13-17)

Group for teen girls to find support and connection this summer

Connect with others and learn new skills in a safe space.

Summer Group Session One (June)

The ongoing pandemic over the past year has been difficult on everyone.

It has caused unique challenges for teenagers who have experienced a lot of stress, changes, and uncertainty.

Fingers crossed, next year will be a bit more certain. But in the meantime, we need to acknowledge the difficulties and support each other through the healing of what we have all been through.

The first session of the summer groups will focus on just that. We will support and connect with each other as we begin the healing process and discuss stress and stress management.

Summer Group Session Two (July)

Developing a healthy sense of self tends to help teens have:

  • Better performance in school

  • Greater participation in after school activities or social events

  • Better relationships with others

  • A solid foundation for a healthy and positive future

Teenagers are sometimes called “self-centered,” but that usually doesn’t include focusing on things like self-talk, self-esteem, or self-compassion.

The second session of summer groups will focus on each of those topics to help group members work toward gaining a more positive and healthy sense of self and learn ways to help maintain that improved sense of self.

Summer Group Session Three (August)

If you (or your teen) have felt anxious, worried, or fearful, you are not alone. Anxiety symptoms can be very common among teens.

The third session of summer groups will focus on anxiety and anxiety management techniques such as mindfulness.

A new school year can sometimes bring on anxiety symptoms with newness and uncertainty, so we will also spend one session preparing for the new school year and goal setting.

I use a combination of CBT, person centered, and strengths based modalities in my individual and group work. These groups will be guided with a different topic each week.

Tame Your Mind (18+)

Overthinkers & Self-Critical Thinkers Group

Connect with others to help calm your mind and silence the inner critic.

If you have a harsh and relentless inner critic, you may also be experiencing anxiety, low self-worth, perfectionism, strained relationship and more.

What?

This group will offer a small group of your peers to share with, listen to, and learn from.

The goal of this group is for you to gain support to help you more confidently be yourself by breaking free from fears and worries, quiet the inner critic to speak more kindly to yourself, and give yourself permission to prioritize your own wants and needs.

COVID-19 Check-In Group

COVID-19 Check-In Group

Looking for support during the pandemic? Look no further!

Has your work or school situation changed due to COVID-19?

Are you experiencing worry about you or a loved one getting sick?

Are you having difficulty with adjusting to the changes that the pandemic has brought about?

Do you feel lonely and isolated due to physical distancing?

Are you feeling frustrated and overwhelmed by the whole situation?

Are you sick of social media (I hear ya!) but are having a hard time finding other ways to connect?

Or maybe your friends and family have expressed different views on how to handle the pandemic and it’s causing stress in your relationships?

COVID-19 has changed our lives in numerous ways and has left many of us with new or increased feelings of anxiety, depression, stress, loneliness, disappointment, and more. It seems many of us thought this would be “over” by now - myself included - but it is still a presence in our lives that seems to add another layer of stress on top of the “normal” life stressors.

Support from our peers can help make things feel less overwhelming and can make us feel less alone.

“We’re not all in the same boat, but we are going through the same storm.”

We are all experiencing a collective stressful and uncertain event. Although we may be experiencing it differently, we can gain a sense of connectivity and universality by sharing and learning from one another.

In many ways for many of us, social connection has been lacking since about March of this year. We are humans who need that connection. Joining this group is one more way to gain a sense of connection and fulfill that need for social interaction.

“The fundamental goal of group therapy is to initiate a sense of belonging or relatability through understanding, which is achieved by sharing common experiences.” Source

What will happen during these group meetings?

This group will offer a small group of your peers to share with, listen to, and learn from. This group is for you to gain the support you want and need during this challenging time in our lives. I will be there to help facilitate and bring talking points and coping / stress management skills to offer when needed.

Who is this group for?

This particular group is for young adult women (18+) who live anywhere in Wisconsin.

*Current clients are welcome to participate. Keep an eye out for future groups catered to other populations.
